Buttons and shortcuts
The essentials are on the console too: Settings, About, How to.
Buttons are named by position, Xbox style: A is the bottom face button (Cross on PlayStation, B on Nintendo), B the right one, X the left one, Y the top one.

When the screen has dimmed or turned off, the first press only wakes it.
Screen by screen
Top bar. Left and Right move along it and change the screen below. A on the name at the right opens the list of people. Down goes back into the screen.
Home. Left and Right along a row, Up and Down between rows. A on the first game resumes it; A on any other opens its page.
Library. A on Platforms or Collections switches tab; A on a tile opens it.
A game’s page. A on Play or Download. Up reaches the heart, then Right the trophy. Down reaches Continue from; Left and Right pick a state.
Search. Type on the keyboard. Start goes to the results, Down comes back to the keyboard, B goes to Home.
Settings. Up and Down pick a section on the left. Right or A goes into it, Left or B comes back. On a row with a value, Left and Right change it and A steps through it.
PIN pad. A presses a key, X deletes a digit, B cancels.
In a game

The Home (Guide) button is never passed to a game.
In-game shortcuts
Off to start with: Settings, Controllers, In-game shortcuts. The shortcut button is Home (Guide). To use another, press Shortcut button in the same list and then the button you want; it is remembered for that kind of pad.

State, rewind, fast forward and screenshot shortcuts work in the built-in emulators. In Switch, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360 and Wii U games only the tap works; use the pause menu for the rest.

Left and Right wrap around the rows. show reveals a password. Some fields
add keys of their own, such as .local and :8080 for a server address. A USB
keyboard types into the same field.
